Installation of Windows Operating System

Pre-requisites:

Before working on this Lab, you must have

1. A Computer and Windows server 2008 Operating System DVD.

Lab-1: Installation Windows server 2008 Operating System

1. Restart the System and go to BIOS

2. Set the Boot Device as DVD ROM.

3. Save the setting by Pressing F10 and click YES.

4. Insert Windows Server 2008 DVD in DVD ROM and Restart the System.

5. Press any key to boot from the DVD.

6. System copies the files from DVD.

7. Select the language as English, Time and Currency Format English (United States), keyboard or input method US.

8. Click on Install now.

9. Leave the Product key blank, and click Next (we will discuss about product key after completed of Installation)
.


10. Click NO.

11. Select the edition of Windows-Windows Server 2008 Enterprise (Full Installation) and check the box  I have selected the edition of windows that I purchased.


12. check the box I Accept the license terms.


13. Select Custom Installation.

14. Click Drive options.

15. Select Unallocated Space and click New.

16. Enter the size for the partition, and click Apply.

17. Select the Partition and click Next.

18. Windows Installation will start.

19. System Restarts.

20. Completes the Installation, and system will be restarted.

21. Click Ok (User's password must be changed before logging on the first time).

22. Enter the New Password and Confirm the password and Press Enter.

23. Click Ok. (Your password has been changed).

24. It prepares the Desktop.

25. Finally Administrator has logged in.

26. Installation has been successfully completed

Important Notes:
If you purchased the Product key even you can entered it after the Installation, as the steps followed:
1. Click on Search option.
2. In the search box, type slui.exe.0x3.
3. Tap or click the slui.exe.0x3 icon.
4. Type your Product key in the Windows Activation windows, and then click Active.

If your using the Trial pack of Windows server 2008 you can extend it, as the steps followed manually:

1. Click Start and then click Command Prompt.
2. Type slmgr.vbs -dli and then press Enter to check the current status of your Evaluation Periods
3. To reset the Evaluation Periods type slmgr.vbs -rearm and then press Enter.
4. Restart the Computer.

This reset the Evaluation periods is 60 days.
