What is Active Directory?

*  Active directory is directory service which contain information of all user account and share resources on network.

*  Active directory is centralized Hierarchical directory data-base .

Purpose of Active Directory

*  Provides user log on and Authenticating service using Kerberos Protocol.
*  To Centralized and decentralized management.
*  To centrally organised and manage.
*  User account, computers, groups network resources.
*  Enable authorized users to easily locate network resources.

1. C.D - Central directory.

2. C.A - Central Authentication.

3. C.M - Central Manage.

4. C-Auth - Central Authorization.

Structure of Active Directory.

there are the two types of structure of Active directory.

1. Logical Structure

2. Physical Structure.

Logical Structure.

*Domain
*Tree
*Parent/Root
*Child/ Branch
Forest

Physical Structure.

*Domain Controllers.
*Sites.

Domain:

*  Domain is a logical secure administrative boundary.
*  Creating the initial domain controller in a network also creates the domain- we cannot have a contain without at least one domain controller.
*  Each domain is identified by DNS domain name.
          (For example: learnitadministration.com).
